Mahamaham Tank

Mahamaham Tank is a huge temple tank located in the heart of Kumbakonam town. It is considered to be the foremost and one of the largest temple tanks in Tamil Nadu. The Masimaham festival held in the tank and the once-in-12-year Mahamaham festival has close to 2 million visitors.

Airavateswarar Temple

The Airavateswarar temple is located 4.4 Kilometer from our Hotel. This temple is one among a cluster of eighteen medieval era large Hindu temples in Kumbakonam, dedicated to Shiva. The stone temple incorporates a chariot structure, and it is situated to the north of the temple.

Sarangapani Temple

Sarangapani is the largest Vishnu temple, just 1.5 kilometers from our Hotel and has the tallest temple tower in the town. It is enshrined within a huge wall and the complex enshrines. The rajagopuram (the main gateway) has eleven tiers and has a height of 173 ft (53 m).

Adi Kumbeswarar Temple

The name of the town Kumbakonam is derived from the legend associated with Kumbeswarar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, represented by the lingam. The temple complex covers an area of 30,181 sq ft. The tallest is the eastern tower, with 11 stories and a height of 128 feet.

Abhimukesvarar Temple

Abhimukeswarar Temple is just 1.1 Kilometer from S.E.T. Residency & Mahal. It is one of such twelve Shiva temples connected with the Mahamaham festival which happens once in 12 years. Lord Abimukeswarar and Goddess Amirthavalli are the main Gods of this temple.

Kasi Viswanadhar Temple

Kasi Viswanathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the temple located near the banks of Mahamaham tank. The temple has a nava kanniyar aka nava kannigais in the form of deities worshiping Shiva and hence the temple is referred as 'Nava Kanniyar' temple.

Churches

Kumbakonam is the land where elaborate architecture and brilliant sculptures of its ancient churches leave all its tourists spellbound with their astounding beauty.

St. Mary’s Cathedral

St.Mary’s Cathedral is located just about a walking distance from the Bus Station. The church has always been involved in education, since the founding, and it runs and sponsors primary and higher secondary schools, convents, and also other training institutions for women.

C.S.I. St. Thomas Church

St. Thomas Church, is situated on the way to Darasuram, it’s a Protestant Church with architectural style and characteristics which reappear from one century to another and from one style to another, with pulpit, altar, and vestry, the fact that churches are full.

T.E.L.C Holy Cross Church

Holy Cross Church (Tamil Evangelical Lutheran Church) was built by German Missionaries in 1929 with a Parsonage located nearby. It’s designed in Gothic style with large corridors and gardens. It remains today as part of the Epitome of architecture.

Mosques

Islamic architecture comprises the architectural styles of buildings associated with Islam. It encompasses both secular and religious styles from the early history of Islam to the present day.

Hajiyar Masjid

Hajiyar Masjid is located near the Bus Station, with the most visible aspects of mosque architecture is the minaret, a tower adjacent or attached to a mosque, from which the call to prayer is announced. These Islamic architectural styles developed their own styles.

Al Mathina Masjid

Al Mathina Masjid is located in close proximity to the Railway Station, the simplest but elegant mosque built with a prayer room, wall marked with a “mihrab” – indicating the direction of Mecca, which Muslims face when praying. It also includes a minaret, a dome.

Masjid E Noor

The Masjid E Noor is located 1.5 kilometers from the Bus Station, with a roof-over, containing a miḥrāb and a minbar, with a minaret sometimes attached to it. Prayer hall is the qiblah wall, the visually emphasized area inside the prayer hall.

SET Residency & Mahal is located off the Kamarajar Road, at a walkable and convenient distance to Railway Station, which is 900 meter away from Central Bus Station and 1,000 meter away from Town Bus stand.

Bus Stand (3 Minutes Walk)


Central Bus Station, popularly known as Central Bus Stand or Moffusil Bus Stand is very nearest to our Hotel and is classified as "A" category Bus station. One can reach the Bus Station within a few minutes by walk.

Train Station (5 Minutes Walk)

Kumbakonam Railway Station is at a walkable distance from our Residency. One can easily reach the station by a short walk, and it is rated as the fifth-cleanest station in India and the cleanest station in Tamil Nadu.

Nearest Airport Trichy - TRZ(2 Hours Drive)

The nearest Airport to Kumbakonam is Tiruchirappalli International Airport (TRZ). The distance to Trichy Airport from Kumbakonam is 78 km. One can hire a cab to the town from this Airport and reach in around 2 hours.
